AUDITION INFORMATION
The Strand Theatre announces auditions for its all-youth winter musical production, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr.
The holiday classic soars off the screen in this Broadway Junior, 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved television special. Filled with holiday hits like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "A Holly Jolly Christmas," Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™ JR. features all of your favorite characters including Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius and, of course, Rudolph. It’s an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special.
Because of his shiny nose, Rudolph doesn't feel like he belongs in Christmastown and sets off to find a place that accepts him. Along his journey, he encounters fellow misfits, only to realize that home is where he has belonged the whole time. When a storm threatens to keep Santa's sleigh from taking flight, it's up to Rudolph to save Christmas!
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. will be presented on December 19 and 20 at 2:00pm. Alex Hill will direct, Leslie Garrett will serve as music director, Meta Lasch will serve as technical director, and Chelsey Keding will serve as stage manager and choreographer.
Auditions are Saturday, October 4, at 12:00pm, at the Strand. If necessary, callbacks will take place on Sunday, October 5, at 2:00pm. Audition ages are students currently in grades 4-12. Audition details are available at www.strandtheatrewv.com/rudolphjr.
Individuals auditioning will be asked to sing no more than 1 minute of their favorite holiday song. An accompanist will be provided for those with sheet music. Auditionees may also bring a track that is able to be connected to a Bluetooth speaker. Additionally, auditionees will be asked to read from the provided script and participate in guided movement. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes in which you can move. Those auditioning should plan to stay for the duration of the audition. A parent/guardian must attend with their student for the first part of the audition process. They will then be asked to leave and return at the conclusion of auditions.
Rehearsals will begin in mid-October. A complete schedule will be created following auditions and distributed at the first rehearsal. Please visit www.strandtheatrewv.com/rudolphjr for complete information. Contact Alexander Hill at alexander.hill@strandtheatrewv.com with questions.
