Press Release February 2009

Strand Theatre Preservation Society

The fifth annual Mystery Dinner Theatre, sponsored by the Art Council of the Strand Theatre Preservation Society will be held February 27-28 at the Moundsville Training Center (Mollohan Building) within the walls of the former West Virginia Penitentiary.  The presentation is titled, “Beaver Cleaver, The Untold Story.”  Everyone remembers the family oriented sitcoms of the 1950’s and 1960’s.  Leave It to Beaver, Lassie, My Three Sons and The Brady Bunch.  Murder is afoot once again when the sitcoms collide.

Marshall County native and current West Liberty State College president Robin Capehart wrote the script and is also the director.  Among those taking part in the mystery event will be local favorites, Sue Pettit, Tiffany Turner, Jim Hartle and Sheriff John Gruzinskas along with a talent cast of colorful characters.

There will be a social hour at 6 p.m. both nights, followed by a buffet dinner and the performance.  Society Art Council Chairperson Bonnie Anderson said 250 tickets will be available for each performance.

Tickets at $25 per person may be purchased at Goin’ Postal, Home Towne Floral and the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, all in Moundsville. Reservations close on February 20th.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Call 304-845-0794 for additional information or visit the Strand Theatre website at WWW.STRANDTHEATREWV.COM.  Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the Strand Theatre.
